Two urological researchers from the University of Turin, in Italy — Marco Ordera and Paolo Gontero — studied the outcomes of surgical and non-surgical penis enlargement procedures studies. Half of the studies they reviewed were centered on surgical male enhancement. The other half involved non-surgical male enhancement / penis enlargement techniques. The result? Ordera and Gontero investigated studies involving:

• 121 participants who had had surgical male enhancement / penis enlargement.
• 109 participants who had used non-surgical male enhancement / penis enlargement.

Of those studies that had surveyed surgical male enhancement, the researchers found they had “unacceptably high rates of complications.” However, non-surgical methods were found to have success!

Two studies the researchers reviewed was particularly intriguing. The participants used the traction method of penis enlargement. With the traction method, a penile extender is used to stretch the penis.

In the first study, the extender was worn for between four and six hours every day, for a total of four months. In the second study, the penis extender was worn daily as well for a total of six months. The men in the first study results showed an average growth of 0.7 inches in their flaccid penis length. In the second, the participants gained an average of 0.9 inches in flaccid length and 0.67 inches when erect. All of these gains were had without the dangerous complications associated with surgery for penis enlargement.

There are numerous possible complications involved with penis enlargement surgery.

Potential Surgical Male Enhancement Complications

In addition to the fact that surgical male enhancement does not always yield the penis enlargement size results men hope for, plus is extremely expensive, there are numerous complications that can be a result of the surgery. These include:

• Post operative infections
• Damage to surrounding tissue and nerves
• Side effects/risks of anesthesia
• Penile swelling
• Damaged urethra
• Inability to have a standing erection

We know why people buy extenders, but can you imagine buying one that is so long, you find you are too short to fit properly?

Also, look for a penile extender where you can order replacement parts, if needed. Look closely at what comes with it. Think about if you will need either extra nooses, straps, pads, comfort cushions, etc, or replacement parts. Some parts may be expendables; you buy and replace them yourself.

2. Research How You Fasten into the Extender

This is critical. It’s all about comfort! How you fasten with or without foreskin is important when deciding which extender will work best for you and your penis enlargement exercise program. There is the silicon tube noose to loop over the shaft, just behind the head or Glans. There are some extenders that use a strap, about an inch wide, which is also fastened just behind the Glans.

Does the penile extender come with a CD of instructions, PDF files, or videos for the user, to help make sure you're using it properly and safely? Visit your favorite PE forum (PEGym.com) and see if others have posted instructions on use for the penis extender you're interested in. Visit YouTube and other searches for penis extenders and the manufacturers name, to see what’s been posted on video sites regarding how to use the extender. You may discover things to be on the lookout for.

4. How Does the Penis Extender Adjust for Proper Fit?

Regretfully, this key piece of information is difficult to determine, from most penis extender web sites I've seen. However, this is an important aspect to consider, for your penis extender and which is going to be best for your penis enlargement exercise routine.

Generally speaking, one fastens into an extender and adjusts it, to place tension or pull on the penis. It is the stretching process that facilitate penis enlargement. But how much pull do you use?

Some penis extenders have “calibrated” springs and lines inscribed, to indicate the force being used to apply the stretch. One has lines for 600 gm, 1200 gm, 1800 gm. Others have different gram values.

Some penis extenders only give a sample schedule to “add X mm every two weeks.” Or adjust to some other criteria, based on comfort, length, or some combination thereof. Think about when you'll change these adjustments, as you progress on your penis enlargement exercise journey. Will you need to build up and adapt? Depending upon which design you choose, there are going to be aspects you will need to deal with. This is where your forum members can help.

What Are Penile/Penis Enlargement Extenders

Penis extenders are a type of traction device used for penis enlargement exercises. Most devices consist of a ring that goes around your penis and sits flush against your body and a fastening device that goes around your penis, right before the glans. Bars separating the two fastening points can be lengthened to put tension on the penis, stretching it, while in a flaccid state, promoting penis enlargement. The penis extender is one of the most straight-forward penis exercise tools.

The Penile Extender Study Participants

Twenty-three men, with a mean age of 26.5 years of age, entered into the study concerning penis extenders and penis enlargement exercises. All of the patients complained of having a short penis. Patients seeking girth only penis enhancement were excluded, as the study focus was primarily on length improvements. Medical histories were taken, to ensure there were no anatomic penile disorders that would negatively affect the use of the penis extender and progress with the penis enlargement exercises.

The Penile Extender Study Method

The subjects participating in the penis enlargement exercise study were asked to wear the penis extender per the following protocol:

1. During the first 2 weeks, participants wore the device daily for 4 to 6 hours per day, and increased the length of the penile extender a 1/2 cm every 5 days.
2. From the beginning of the 3rd week to the end of the 2nd month, participants wore the penis extender daily for 9 hours a day, increasing the length a 1/2 cm every 2 weeks.
3. During the 3rd month, the participants continued to wear the penile extender for 9 hours a day, increasing the length a 1/2 cm every 2 weeks.

Study participants were followed up with at the end of the first and the third months of wearing the penis extender as a form of penis enlargement exercise. During each visit, penis length and circumference were measured by the same physician, to help ensure measurements were taken consistently. Measurements were taken for both flaccid and stretched length numbers, proximal girth, and circumference of the glans.

Penile Extender Study Results Show Penis Enlargement

Positive penis enlargement results were found concerning both increases in flaccid and stretched penis length, with the use of the penile extender, as a form of penis exercise. The results were as follows for flaccid penis length:

• Starting mean penile flaccid length for participants – 8.8 cm
• End of the 1st month mean penile flaccid length – 10.1 cm
• End of the 3rd month mean penile flaccid length – 10.5 cm

This showed an average increase of 1.7 cm in flaccid length by the end of the third month.

Similar results were found for stretched length increases, for using a penis extender for penis enlargement exercises. The results were as follows for stretched penis length:

• Starting mean penile stretched length for participants – 11.5 cm
• End of the 1st month mean penile stretched length – 12.4 cm
• End of the 3rd month mean penile stretched length – 13.2 cm

This showed an average increase of 1.7 cm stretched length by the end of the third month as well, of use of the penis extender for penis enlargement exercise.

There were no significant improvements found in penile girth. However, the circumference of the glans did show an average increase of 1/2 cm between the first and the third month, from using a penile extender.

Penis enlargement surgery is the most common cosmetic surgery in the United Kingdom.

A leading cosmetic surgery practice estimated that approximately half of the inquiries they get each month are for penis enlargement surgery — taken over top slot from rhinoplasties (nose jobs). Although the survey didn’t indicate if these surgeries were for length or for girth enlargement, they both come with inherent risks.

For penis lengthening surgery, the suspensory ligament is cut, which allows the inner penis to slip forward slightly. Erect gains range typically between less than 1/2 of an inch to under 2 inches. The larger you are before surgery (ironically) the better the results.) Negative side effects can include the loss of your erection angle, with some men having to guide their penis in for sexual entry, following surgery. In addition, the use of a penis extender is typically recommended following surgery.
